What is Jaan?

Jaan is ultra-purified, remineralized drinking water—crafted with intention in Bali. Locally sourced and bottled, we use advanced filtration technology to remove impurities down to 0.0001 microns, then restore a precise balance of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate for taste, wellness, and harmony.

We are a local brand—and proudly so. As far as we know, no other water company in Bali matches our level of sustainability. Our factory is powered by solar energy. We package in glass, aluminum, and BPA-free gallons, do not use any chemicals, and operate with minimal waste, because pure water should nourish both people and planet.

We are also the only water company in Bali with a certified in-house Water Sommelier. Trained to understand the taste, structure, and health properties of water, our sommelier helps guide everything from mineral balance to quality testing—ensuring that every drop of Jaan is both technically excellent and sensorially refined.

Our commitment does not stop at the bottle. Through our Vital Source program, we support the community with water access initiatives and educational opportunities for our team.

More than water, Jaan is a commitment to quality, worthiness, and the potential within every drop.

What filtration methods are used to make jaan?

At Jaan Water, we use the world’s most advanced filtration and purification system to ensure our water is ultra-pure and of the highest quality. This includes removing impurities, microplastics, and particles. Our process also disinfects the water, eliminating bacteria, viruses, and other harmful pathogens. Finally, we remineralize the water with essential minerals, creating the crisp, balanced taste that Jaan is known for—all without using any chemicals.

What are Jaan gallons made of, and are they BPA-free?

Our gallons are made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate), recycling category 1. The resin manufacturer certifies that it is BPA-free in both its raw materials and its production process. The resin is also certified as compliant with EU Regulation 10/2011 and US FDA 21 CFR § 177.1630 food safety regulations.

Water Quality

Is Jaan Remineralized?

Yes. After ultra-purification, Jaan is remineralized with essential minerals and electrolytes. This gives the water a clear, balanced taste and supports everyday hydration.

What is Jaan's Remineralization Process?

After ultra-purifying our water, we return a precise balance of essential minerals, based on the terroir of Mount Batukaru, where our water begins. Guided by our in-house Water Sommelier and tested by accredited labs, we add back minerals like calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate to reach a total dissolved solids (TDS) level of approximately 85 mg/L. This balance supports hydration, taste, and overall well-being.

What minerals are in Jaan, and in what amounts?

Jaan contains the following minerals, shown in milligrams per liter (mg/L):

Calcium (Ca²⁺): 11 mg/L
Magnesium (Mg²⁺): 8 mg/L
Sodium (Na⁺): 2 mg/L
Bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻): 25 mg/L
Sulfate (SO₄²⁻): 8 mg/L
Chloride (Cl⁻): 5 mg/L

What is the pH of Jaan?

Jaan has a neutral pH of around 7.

Is Jaan safe to use in coffee machines?

Yes, Jaan is well suited to coffee machines. Its low hardness (19.41 mg/L) and very low silica (0.85 mg/L) help minimize scale build-up and mineral deposits inside boilers, valves, and pipework, which supports steadier machine performance over time. A neutral pH of 7.0 to 7.5 and a TDS of 80 to 90 ppm also create a balanced mineral profile that supports sweetness, clarity, and aroma in the cup.

We benchmark Jaan against Specialty Coffee Association brewing guidance and published recommendations from leading espresso machine manufacturers. Every batch is tested, with daily microbiological testing and independent laboratory analysis, so the water stays consistent from one delivery to the next.

If you have a question about your specific machine, please contact us.

How is Jaan tested for safety and quality?

Jaan is tested daily by third-party laboratories for E. coli, a key indicator of contamination that can cause waterborne illness. Once a month, the testing extends to heavy metals and a wider range of contaminants.

Has Jaan Water Been Tested for Microplastics?

We take purity seriously, from source to bottle. That is why we commissioned SGS Laboratory in Singapore, the world’s leading testing and certification company, to test Jaan Water for microplastics. They tested water bottled in our BPA-free plastic gallon using FTIR microscopic spectroscopy.

The results? Less than 1 microplastic particle per liter.

For context, studies by PIRG and others have found 300–500+ particles per liter in many bottled water brands.

Our findings reflect the strength of our ultra-purification process and our commitment to clean, trustworthy water.
